Valerie C Wasinger

Dr Wasinger received her PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia in 1999 and has spent time working at the University of Heidelberg, Germany as well as The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, Sydney and currently at the University of NSW. She is Senior Research Scientist and Conjoint Lecturer in the School of Medical Sciences, working at Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility, University of New South Wales. BMSF is a facility supported by the University that enables ‘omic’ research for local and international research groups in the university, hospital, and industrial settings. She has been involved in the field of Proteomics since the early 1990’s. Dr Wasinger is the first author on the publication defining the field of Proteomics, published in 1995. Dr Wasinger’s current research involves the development of techniques and methods to: enrich for the low mass proteome/peptidome; and quantify and validate novel markers for Inflammatory Bowel Disease with broader application to other diseases.
