Jeroen Krijgsveld

Jeroen Krijgsveld is a professor of Proteomics at Heidelberg University and head of the Division 'Proteomics of stem cells and cancer' at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). He did post-doctoral work at Harvard Medical School, was an assistant professor at Utrecht University, and was a Team Leader at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) from 2008-2015. His research focuses on the development and application of quantitative proteomic methodologies to study proteome dynamics in time and space. In particular, his group has developed novel approaches to study protein secretion, protein-RNA and protein-DNA interactions, and to miniaturize sample preparation for low-input proteomics. A major aim is to utilize these methodologies to understand processes that are fundamental to cancer biology and to pluripotency in stem cells. A major current focus of the lab is on the characterization of proteome and chromatin dynamics in the face of oncogenic mutations and rewiring of signaling networks.
