Janne Lehtio

Dr Janne Lehtiö has his research group and holds faculty professor position at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. He devotes part of his time as Scientific Director at Science for Life Laboratory (www.scilifelab.se), Swedish national laboratories in biosciences and heads the Stockholm node on the national infrastructure in biological mass spectrometry (BioMS) in Sweden. Prior that Dr Lehtiö has been principle investigator at Dept. of Oncology and Pathology at Karolinska Institutet and since 2006, Dr. Lehtiö was appointed as director of the Karolinska University Hospital’s clinical proteomics facility. He completed his MSc on biochemistry in Helsinki University, Finland and PhD in biotechnology in Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. Post the PhD, Lehtiö worked few years in biotech industry in USA and Europe. Lehtiö’s major research interest is the cancer proteomics aiming to improve personalized cancer therapy. Lehtiö lab takes particular interest on multi-level omics analysis and has pioneered in developing methods in proteogenomics field. The Lehtiö group has published number of novel methods for proteome analysis, data-analysis and cancer research applications in leading journals. The main cancer types that the group focuses are lung and breast cancer as well as on a newly started program on childhood and adult leukaemia.
