Katalin F. Medzihradszky
Katalin F. Medzihradszky is the head of the Laboratory of Proteomics Research in the Biological Research Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, in Szeged, Hungary as well as an adjunct professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy of the University of California San Francisco. Her research interests are in protein structure elucidation using mass spectrometry. Her specialties are de novo peptide sequencing and O-glycosylation analysis. Her recent studies led to the characterization of intact human urinary glycopeptides, featuring O-glycans with O-acetyl, and O-diacetyl sialic acids, disialic units and blood-type antigens. Prof. Medzihradszky has been associated with UCSF for 30 years, living and working in San Francisco until 2015; while her group in Hungary was established in 2001. She previously held an industrial research position at Gedeon Richter LTD, and before that she was a member of the Peptide Synthesis Group in the Chemical Research Center of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. She has contributed more than 180 scientific publications, 17 book chapters and reviews, and holds 2 patents. She is on the editorial board of Molecular & Cellular Proteomics. Dr. Medzihradszky graduated from the Eötvös Lóránd University (Budapest, Hungary) in organic chemistry, where she also received her Ph.D.
