Hyun Joo An
Dr. Hyun Joo An is a Professor at the Graduate School of Analytical Science and Technology, Chungnam National University, Korea, where she builds mass spectrometry-based tools that make the glycome measurable and biologically interpretable. She directs the Asia-Pacific Glycomics Reference Site (AGRS), which develops and validates analytical platforms for glycomics and glycoproteomics with government agencies and industry. She is Vice President of the Korean Human Proteome Organization (KHUPO) and the Korean Society for Glycoscience, and serves on the HUPO Council as a representative of the Eastern Region (Asia Oceania).
After receiving her PhD from UC Davis in 2003, she worked in industry and as an associate specialist at UC Davis before joining CNU in 2011. She co-founded Glycometrix, Inc., an ovarian cancer diagnostics company built on the first glycomics patent for cancer. Her research integrates glycomics, glycolipidomics, and glycoproteomics into glyco-centric multi-omics, applied to biopharmaceutical characterization, cancer biomarkers, xenotransplantation, and brain glycome mapping. She has published more than 200 peer-reviewed papers, holds 35 patents, and serves on editorial boards including Mass Spectrometry Reviews and Scientific Reports.
