Maik Mueller
Maik studied biochemistry at ETH Zurich Switzerland and obtained his Master's degree (with distinction) in 2015. During his studies both at ETH Zurich and the Centre for Life Sciences at National University of Singapore (NUS) Maik gained a strong background in biochemistry and perceived the power of mass spectrometry to investigate complex biological systems. He therefore joined the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology at ETH for his master thesis where he engaged in the development of chemo-proteomic technologies to study cell surface receptors and associated post-translational modifications implicated in cellular signaling under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Wollscheid and Prof. Paola Picotti. He then joined the Life Science Zurich Graduate School to continue his research in the Wollscheid lab as a PhD student. In the context of the PhD program Molecular and Translational Biomedicine (MTB), Maik is combining light-induced chemical reactions and mass spectrometry to study the interaction space and structural organization of receptors on the surface of cells to understand their role in cellular signaling.
