Zhixin TIAN
Dr. Tian obtained his PhD degree from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences under the supervision of Prof. Qi-he Zhu and Zi-chao Tang in 2003. From 2004-2011, Dr. Tian did his postdoctoral research in University of Minnesota with Prof. Steven Kass and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory with Prof. Richard Smith and Ljiljana Paša-Tolić. In September of 2011,Dr. Tian started his independent research at Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2013, Dr. Tian has been a full professor at Tongji University with research interest in MS-based Proteomics. Prof. Tian’s group has invented the “isotopic mass-to-charge ratio and envelope, iMEF” search algorithm of biological mass spectra to accommodate their new feature of often missing mono-isotopic peaks. With this new and accurate search algorithm, intact protein DB search engine ProteinGoggle, phosphosite localization tool P-bracket, N-glycan DB search engine GlySeeker and intact N-glycopeptide DB search engine GPSeeker have been developed and successfully applied to both qualitative and quantitative PTMomics. The most recent focus is quantitative site- and structure-specific N-glycoproteomics and its application in biomarker discovery of cancers as well as cancer stem cells.
